DJing at Remake’s "Postcards for a Cause Summer Soirée" in Support of SB-62

It’s not every day that I have the privilege of DJing at an event for the good of society, but that’s precisely how I spent the 12 August at the Postcards for a Cause Summer Soirée.

Anyone who knows me will know that supporting women is important for me, and as a female DJ in Los Angeles, I can’t think of a more apt way to do so.

The Postcards for a Cause Summer Soirée

As you may be aware already, Californian women working in the garment manufacturing industry have suffered exploitation and wage violations for a long time, prompting a group of politicians to push for a bill called SB62. This legislation would enforce greater transparency and a fairer pay system.

To spread the word about the bill and encourage the government to take action, Remake hosted the soirée at the Christy Dawn store in Venice, which gave attendees a chance to write postcards to the governors. All while enjoying my music and cocktails.

Now, that’s my idea of a good time!

I also had the pleasure of working alongside a range of other talents on this special day, such as @evelinaecoevents with the tasty and beautiful cocktails, @SustainableSchool.cool speaking for the youth generation, Senator Maria Elena Durazo speaking in support of #SB62, @erikatxylor for the beautiful photos and recap blog article, and The Garment Worker Center speaking on real life experience and conditions for these garment workers.

Continue the support

It would be fantastic if I could say that the soirée alone was enough to solve this problem, but sadly, it will be an ongoing struggle. So, I urge everyone who feels as strongly as I do to show their support by tweeting Governor Newsom and First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom with information about the bill (more information here).

And of course, remember to keep up with my latest events so you can catch me next time!
