Disney+ National Treasure Premiere Afterparty

It’s been nearly 20 years since the original National Treasure film was first released in 2004, but the franchise is still going strong–thanks to the new Disney+ series “National Treasure: Edge of History.” To celebrate the release, I had the pleasure of performing as the DJ for the series premiere afterparty in December–such an exciting and vibrant way to wrap up 2022.

“National Treasure: Edge of History” follows the whipsmart Jess Valenzuela as she embarks on the adventure of a lifetime after receiving a strange clue that she believes holds promises of both long-lost treasure and her late father. Jess and her friends set out to find answers, solving puzzles and seeking clues, all while battling a sinister antique dealer masterfully played by none other than Catherine Zeta Jones.

On Monday, December 6, 2022, Disney+ hosted the series premiere at the historic El Capitan Theatre, followed by an afterparty in the Blossom Ballroom of The Hollywood Roosevelt. Both venues were perfectly suited to the “National Treasure” concept, with restored vintage features that seemed to transform the event into another time and place. And in the midst of that glamorous ballroom, I made sure we danced until we dropped.

Since the series explores Jess’s Latina history, the vibe for this set was fun and energetic with a heavy Latin flair. I curated a mix of mostly Latin music, current pop music, and the best throwbacks from ‘80s music through ‘00s music. Of course, no 2022 party was complete without plenty of Bad Bunny and Reggaeton tracks, which was perfect for the Latin feel of the night. I don’t think there was a single Bad Bunny song that didn’t have everyone on their feet. Some of the most memorable tracks from the evening were Bad Bunny’s hits “Tití Me Pregunto,” “Party,” “Me Porto Bonito,” and “Moscow Mule,” “MAMII” by Becky G and Karol G, “Despechá” (1980 Miami Remix) by Rosalia, “Senorita vs. Danza Kuduro” (Scooter Blend) by Shawn Mendes & Camila Cabello vs. Don Omar, and “Tacones Rojos” Remix by Sebastián Yatra & John Legend.

It was an honor and an absolute blast to play for such a talented cast and crew and also for the special guests who attended the party. As always, I’m proud to spin as a Disney DJ for exclusive premiere events like this. Not only does it allow me to play a wide range of the music I love, but it also allows me to represent Prism DJs and all the talented women in our network.

I’d like to extend my many thanks to Disney+ and the event production team at Creative Riff for having me. It was truly a sensational close to the year.
